Feeling Festive? Here’s What’s Cooking At Our Bars and Restaurants This Christmas
Friday 21st October 2016
With just over 2 months to go until Santa arrives you’d be wise to start considering your options for celebrating Christmas 2016. It’s the one time of year you can let your hair down, celebrate with friends, family and work colleagues over copious amounts of good food washed down with your favorite tipple – guilt free – so get organised folks!
Whether you’re someone who goes all out with the tinsel, sherry and turkey with all the trimmings or looking for a more understated approach, Cairn Group’s array of bars and restaurants have your Christmas festivities covered across our UK bar and restaurant venues, so read on and prepare to feel all warm inside as we get excited for the frivolities that lie ahead!
For a traditional take on the much loved Christmas dinner in comfortable surroundings, look no further than the sleek and chic cocktail and gastro-bar 97 & Social, situated on Newcastle’s popular Osborne Road. With mouth-watering two and three course Christmas menus available priced at £14.99 and £17.99 respectively, all served against the backdrop of a roaring fire, what’s not to love? The mini Christmas pudding with ice cream and Pedro X’iminez sauce gets our vote!
If you’re after something a little less conventional simply head next door to Sohe – Newcastle’s top Asian-fusion restaurant for season and spice with its flavour-packed Christmas menu; a selection of carefully-crafted Asian fusion cuisine guaranteed to leave your taste buds tingling. Festive menus available cover a two or three course lunch at £11.90 and £14.90 respectively and evening offers of two and three course dinners at £21.90 and £24.90.
For the more casual amongst you, Spy Bar, the infamous sports bar which is also located on Osborne Road, will be offering the epitome of laid-back dining with its quirky ‘Saint Nick’s Picks’ turkey board platter – deliciously moist turkey meat accompanied by brioche buns, stuffing and gravy meaning customers can make their own turkey sarnies. Alternatively why not opt for one of their notorious burgers – the ‘Christmas Winner’ and ‘Reindog’ are tipped to be this year’s most popular.
A little further afield, we’ll be hosting a mini disco and pizza party on Saturday 10th December at Fratello’s Double Tree Newcastle Airport. Strictly for kids (sorry guys), proceedings kick off at 12pm with tickets priced at £10 per child including lunch and entertainment. Booking is advised to ensure your tykes get a peep of Santa who will send them on their way with a gift – only if they’ve been good of course… Who doesn’t love a bit of festive bribery?
North of the border and right in the heart of Edinburgh lies Twenty Princes Street, one of Cairn Group’s most captivating venues offering unrivalled views of what is perhaps one of the UK’s most festive cities. Christmas lunch and dinner are both on offer at this popular grill and smokehouse from 22nd November throughout December with a bespoke Christmas Day also available, all served under the watchful eye of our executive chef who sources only the best, local Scottish produce – yum!
Bookings for lunch and dinner at Twenty Princes Street are available right up until Hogmanay, which has an equally tantalising spread for revellers looking to see in the New Year in style in the form of a particularly indulgent five course dinner at £75 per person.
Celebrations in the Scottish capital will continue to go off with a bang at Juniper’s Hogmanay bash, which will ensure you’re in the heart of the excitement at the world’s biggest street party. At £20 per person Juniper is the place to be with cocktails and music mixed by DJ Josie Smith from 6pm onwards on the night.
Alternatively, if you’re out and about on New Year’s Eve and looking to grab some delicious food to keep the December chill at bay head for Juniper’s renowned ‘street food’ stall, offering small bites with big flavours. Available from 6pm, you can graze to your heart’s content as you take in all the hullaballoo of Hogmanay!
Back down south you can expect a contemporary Christmas three course meal each Sunday throughout December at Buckinghamshire-based 1269 Restaurant Bar and Grill in Beaconsfield. Under fours can dine for free and Sunday 18th December* sees the popular venue welcome a very special guest for younger visitors…*special prices apply. 1269 has Christmas and New Year all wrapped up with specially tailored menus for each available.
Finally, not forgetting one of the most recent additions to our dining venues – The King & Lamb restaurant, also based in Buckinghamshire is set to serve up the finest of festive British dishes using French-inspired flavours and cooking methods, created using home-grown produce by a trio of award-winning chefs.
